Trip overview

Kathmandu - Zhangmu - Nylam - Tingri – Base Camp (BC) – Advanced Base Camp (ABC) - Summit

Why go there?

Expedition leader from «Club 8000» -  Alexander Abramov (Everest summiter)

For safety you will be supplied with oxygen equipment: an individual oxygen cylinder and a breathing set (mask+reducer), which you will use on the summit day. On this day your group will be guided by experienced guides and Sherpas.

Weather in high mountains is extremely changeable, but we will check regularly forecasts for the area in Internet and adjust our planning accordingly Our expedition starts in Kathmandu, where we meet in the “Vaishali”**** Hotel on September 4. Members arriving by different flights are met at the airport and brought to the hotel.

In two days, on September 6, we leave for Tibet and drive from Katmandu to Zhangmu (2350m), then to Nylam (3750m) and to Tingri (4200m). We have a day of rest and acclimatization first in Nylam, then in Tingri. From the latter we drive to Cho Oyu Base Camp (5100m). After one or two rest days in BC we start with yaks for ABC (5700m).

Normally the true base camp on Cho Oyu is ABC. Climbers come to the nominal BC, spend some days there and move to ABC. Three high camps are established above the latter.

In BC and ABC three meals a day are served. These are cooked by Nepalese cooks and Tibetan kitchen boys on gas stoves in special kitchen tents. Also members can get in both camps any amount of hot water for washing or boiled water for drinking. We eat in spacious mess tents equipped with tables and chairs.

Food for the high camps is freeze-dried light-weight one and the cooking service is self-service (with the help of the guides of course). Water is melted snow.

We return to Kathmandu between the 10th and 12th of October and stay at the “Vaishali”**** Hotel. From here we go to the airport and fly home.

Climbing is a potentially dangerous pastime, high-altitude climbing is dangerous at all times. There can be no possible guarantee of your success and safety at the altitudes above BC and especially above 7000 and 8000m. So we strongly recommend you to hire a personal high altitude Sherpa guide-porter, especially if you do not have any experience in high-altitude climbing.
